CLM 3.0 Articulated Finger System Guide
CLM 3.0 is the reinforced articulated hand system used on Climax ULW and Ultra silicone dolls. It is designed to provide more natural finger, thumb, and wrist movement while improving hand-pose stability.
It is built into applicable ULW and Ultra dolls rather than offered as a separate upgrade option.

Key Changes in CLM 3.0
Reinforced Finger Skeleton
CLM 3.0 uses thicker metal finger bones with a hollow, micro-perforated structure.
According to Climax, the perforations help the surrounding silicone bond more securely to the internal finger skeleton, reducing unwanted movement between the silicone and the metal structure.
Climax also reports that the finger joints maintained resistance and stability after more than 5,000 bending cycles in its testing.
This is a manufacturer test result and should not be understood as a guarantee that the fingers cannot be damaged.
Inward-Folding Thumb
The CLM 3.0 thumb can fold inward toward the palm instead of moving mainly in one direction.
This allows the thumb to take a more natural position during gripping poses and helps the hand wrap more convincingly around lightweight objects.
Lateral Wrist Movement
CLM 3.0 adds lateral wrist movement, giving the hand more freedom to change direction and angle.
This makes it easier to adjust the hand without repositioning the entire arm and gives you more control when creating natural hand poses.
Firmer Joint Resistance
The finger joints use revised resistance to provide a firmer feel during adjustment.
This helps carefully positioned fingers stay closer to the intended pose instead of feeling overly loose.
What CLM 3.0 Can Do
CLM 3.0 gives you more detailed control over the doll’s hands, including:
- bending and extending individual fingers
- crossing or independently positioning fingers
- creating more natural gripping poses
- forming relaxed and expressive hand gestures
- adjusting the wrist angle
- posing the hand around lightweight objects such as a smartphone, clothing, or photography accessories
- keeping carefully arranged finger poses more stable
The difference is most noticeable when the hands are clearly visible and form part of the overall pose.

CLM 3.0 is most useful when hand position, finger detail, and small body-language cues are important to the way you pose your doll.
Important Handling Limits
CLM 3.0 provides greater articulation, but the fingers are still relatively delicate moving parts.
For safer use:
- move each finger gradually within its natural range
- do not force a finger sharply backward
- stop if a joint reaches strong resistance
- avoid repeatedly pushing a joint to its maximum range
- do not use the hand to support heavy objects or body weight
- avoid gripping hard or sharp objects
- do not leave the fingers supporting weight for long periods
- keep the hands in a relaxed position when the doll is not being posed
Lightweight objects can be used as part of a pose, but the hand should not be treated as a clamp or load-bearing structure.
